Which cancer is more likely to kill you without realizing that you have it?
This is not my experience. Someone just sharing their experience. I am just reproducing his article.
I can only speak from my own experience. I went to see my GP with a bunch of symptoms that weren't
related to each other or any set diagnosis. So, the GP gave me a diagnosis of catch-all fibromyalgia
when a diagnosis is lacking anything of substance AND sent me to see a shrink!
Well, six years later my blood work shows up that I have lymphoma, called CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic
Leukemia). It's probably the most common type of cancer with no cure and not very successful
treatment options. But, here's the thing about my cancer. I had lots of oddball kinds of symptoms, but
the original blood
test
was good. However, it's been twenty years since my diagnosis and I have not had ANY treatment
whatsoever. I have some kind of protein in my genetics that prevents the cancer from gaining any
ground. So, as far as the oncologist goes, I'll probably not die from the cancer but something else.
However, many people are afflicted with CLL and die from it. I only have my own experience with the
doctors and the tests, but most people will probably be symptom-free rather than feeling tired all the
time. I speak further from experience about my husband who was diagnosed with CLL as well and for
him, it was very aggressive. And yes, he died from cancer. He had NO symptoms other than a bad
pounding in his head and felt like he might have gotten the flu. Well, it turned out that the pounding
in his
head was due to an extremely low platelet count and the doctor told me that if I had arrived an hour
later with him to the ER, it would have killed him.
Unfortunately, cancer remains being referred to as the silent killer because people don't start feeling
pain until the cancer has caused some serious and permanent damage. So, for the most part regarding various cancers, people are usually totally unaware that they have cancer until it's too late. It doesn't matter the type of cancer, cuz most cancers just creep along without the person knowing. It's
the silent killer.
It's a good idea to get checked out at the doctor's office once a year, especially when you are over
forty. I managed to escape colon cancer by having a colonoscopy and had some precancerous polyps
removed. So, prevention is an important thing folks should take more seriously.
